MY JOURNEY

In 2005, I was enjoying my "Skinny" days; weighing 130 lbs. I struggled with my weight during secondary school. After a short battle with bulimia, I successfully recovered and began to eat normally again. However, my normal eating habits were extremely unhealthy. In 2006, after giving birth to my oldest daughter, I weighed 172 pounds. It was the discouraging but I was not alarmed.

After marrying in 2010, I gained a large amount of weight. I weighed 243.3 pounds. I ate out almost everyday. My diet consisted of pizza, fried chicken, french fries, caramel frappucinos (large) and coffee. After being warned by my physician that my weight would eventually effect my health, I decided I needed to make a change. In 2011, I gave birth to my second child and lost some weight thanks to gallstones and a restricted diet. I weighed 236 pounds. As soon as I recovered from surgery, I hit the gym and incorporated fitness into my daily regimine. In 2012 I met some great trainers who inspired me and motivated me to push myself to shed those pounds. By the year's end I weighed 213.3 pounds. I continued to attend personal training and classes in 2013 and at year's end I weighed 203 pounds.

Prior to 2014, I had not changed my diet much, if any. I ate tons of processed foods, I did not monitor the amount of calories, carbs, fats, sugars or sodium I consumed in a day. And with my personal and professional life becoming so hectic, I had to make a change because I was no longer able to hit the gym twice a day.

As of November 2014, I am currently 187.5 pounds! I still have a ways to go. But I celebrate living a healthier, happier and more active lifestyle.

I will continue to challenge myself to love my body enough to nourish it with fresh and unprocessed foods. I will incorporate fitness into my daily routine, even if its 10 minutes of me walking up and down the stairs. Working out and eating healthy is not a DIET, it is a lifestyle. I choose to live well and have FUN while doing it!
